deformity

How do you view your appearance? Would you say your view is different from others views? Is there anything in specific that you worry about the most? Are those negative views brought onto you from what you see in the media?

The work titled "deformity" is to represent the feeling and view of ones self when experiencing body dysmorphia. What is body dysmorphia you may ask, body dysmorphia is when one overly worries about the flaws in their appearances.

Tellez struggles with her own view of herself. Feeling "deformed" and tied up to a particular look and appearance. These struggles come from viewing the media and feeling overweight or being told that she is to muscular for a woman.

Tellez brings awareness into these type of feelings by putting herself into a vulnerable place with her imagery. This work is in hopes to be used as a way to be kinder to oneself and to show that there is more to someone than just their appearance.
